To the Sea, Side of the world, Esther's not just a girl...

...but instead she is a Birthday girl!!
Sooo another event in the (what is currently)
very small life of Newcastle Katie
was an invitation to celebrate a new-found friend's
beach-side birthday.

"OFF DOWN THE RIVER TYNE WE GO, to be by the
sea".. in a wee sand laden land called Tynemouth,
where men in small shorts work out
in groups of 5 and small children attempt to walk
on the sand but often fall due to small,
12month old leather cushioned feet.

The Birthday girl:

Her strange, and unfortunate tag along brother
(who wouldn't walk along the beach due to fear of
getting sand in his precious shoes - but we
musn't jugde, he is after all, a really nice guy):

yet another sweet treat creation a la Katie Merryweather.
This one folks, is called Carrot Cake,
mmmmmm, cream cheese with lemon,
vanilla and icing sugar = my friend.

So i went to see the sea, and I saw that
it was lover-ly.
here is a ruined cathedral on the cliffs
above the sea.
It looked tiny from afar,
but it is actually really big.
funny that.

Update on me today:
I am still unemployed.
I have an interview next week on Wednesday.
Someone wants me to move into
their lovely flat, but are waiting for
their current flatmate to find a place to
move... which is actually good, I'd
rather hold off til I get a job.
"HIRE ME! HIRE ME! HIRE ME!"
is the subliminal messgage
I send out to all potential employers
whether this be in my Curriculum Vitae,
or whilst I speak to them in person and/or on the phone.
I am too OLD (would you believe) to
be a hairdressing apprentice.

Andddd...

... I have taken up
trying to teach myself how to yodel.
This way, if I end up on the streets,
I can sing my sorrows away in a loud,
abrasive, obnoxious fashion that someone
might take note and pity of me
and employ me in some
strange but wonderful occupation
that pays unbelievably well.

Oh, And!

i really want a hat like
this lovely lilac femme.

New Old Friends and New new Friends

So, I have been told that I am relatively slack
in my blogging duties - my response to all you lovely
fiends, oh, i mean FRIENDS, is: "PUH! I shall write when
I feel inspired.. or when you say such hurtfull things,
that act as a metaphorical kick in the shins to inch me closer to
updating my blog, so there!"

Newcastle is still L-O-V-E, Lovely.
what a pretty picture eh?
Me, and my blonde sheep dag-ish waves frollocking
about the North Eastern parts of England,
applying on average for 2 jobs a day, whether in person
or via internet/email application.
Wondering, "when on earth shall I get a job please six month old baby Jesus?"
(reference Talladega Nights), and finding myself moderately bored at times.
I am eager to get settled my fine fellows over yonder, about the earth,
this is my Number one on my wishlist, which contains only one thing on it.

Events occured since arriving in Newcastle Upon Tyne have
included my New slash old friend's birthday.
Whereupon I endeavoured to make a 'Whacky cake'
titled as such due to its lack of milk and eggs, how Whacky is that!! eeeek.
I was told "this better not taste like crap, or you'll have
ruined my birthday" or something vaguely along those lines.
The overall final product was a success.
The Birthday boy did not spew up my cake, and I let out a sigh of relief.
Here is my minor/master-piece:

The cake was preceeded with a delish pasta, courtesy of birthday boy
and a garden, rug, folky music, pre-drink, out-door setting period of time.
The grass was green, of moderate length, and the sap was running between the trees,
up and down the trees? maybe it wasn't running anywhere, I am not sure what time of year sap is active...

why not photograph with subjects on the cusp of the frames edge eh? mildly self
amusing/indulging perhaps, but it's all about me... who has admittedly been somewhat attuned to believe that aviators can look non-seedy, Top-gun-esque on certain persons, in fact i might go as far to say that they look, quite great.

Will let you know when I have crushed and caught a job and house to live in,
hopefully as soon as possible ('asap' for all you abbreviators) as
i have surpassed my hopeful 'Wednesday' intentions empty handed.

kindest salutations in a non military sense,

Ruby Red put on her dancing shoes

Um, yea, so...

... i made my first Pom Pom ever today!
aweeeeeeee. It is big and it is red.
So i have Christened it Ruby, for cliché's sake.
At present it is hanging on the lampshade
in the room which is so kindly being let to me for
free by a friend until i secure a job and a flat.

Here she is - Ruby Red:

Yes, I am yet to find a job.
I am being sent an application form from
'Northumbrian Nannies' who contacted me after
seeing my ad on Gumtree... hopefully something comes
of that, but in the meantime i am trying to find something
more immediate, that way I can move into a flat sooner.
As I do indeed have a great urge to NEST!!
Make my own room, fill it with things that are
pretty to me, sentimental to me.
I am somewhat tired of being in other
people's environments (thanks however for everyone
who has put me up - i do in fact adore you all for this)
and want some 'me' space.

I have found some lovely 2 bedroom flats in a nice
area near the park, and have contacted one of them
expressing my "interest."
So please send all your lovliest thoughts
my way - that i may get a job by Wednesday next week.
No particular reason for it being Wednesday, that's
just when i would very much like to have one by.

Over and out (written like a true geek)

New new new Newky Castle home town...

Goodbye, hello family.
new but old. Here we go,
here we are, well just a few of us.
Me Nan, me Aunt and I.

Dayvan Cowbow - Boards of Canada,
spoke. they told me of adventure
as the driver pulled out the choke.
Manchester is dark, it's industrial,
it's broke, but it was there that i felt,
i was finally awoke-n.
"I am on an adventure," she mused.

Newcastle mornings,
the fog and the mist.
tired body and
a tired fist.

Early mornings a ponderin'
mornings wake a foraging.
then off to trot and find
me some brogues.
outing successful.
"YAY" she cries.

more when i feel more alive slash
awake. then i'll do a dance for you in my
new brown shoes.

So Long, Marianne, it's time we began...

And I am off to Liverpool today on a One Pound ticket,
on the 'MegaBus,' otherwise known as the cheap to keep travellers
wayfare as my carrier, and it is Big and Blue.

I found out I am only supposed to have One piece of luggage (allowance 20kg - my bag is 20.4kg),and one carry on... I have that, annnnnnd my guitar.
I figure getting to the station and smiling sweetly all on my lonesome
will help me out, it has so far in 'The Big Smoke,' whaddayaknow! So hopefully the bus driver is a kind wee character!!

Blasts from the past, caught up with my "ca-razy" cousin Brooke
yesterday, she is lovely jubbly, and i adore her.
We ate food. We drank good (kiwi barrista) coffee in grungy Soho.
We went to the National Art Museum in Trafalgur Square and perused
ancient artworks; Picassa, Renoir, Degas, etcetera etcetera...

It rained. people put up umbrellas.
it stopped. people put them back down.
.. it rained again... Hey, it is "Spring" after
all, which means sporadic, ever-changing weather. aweeeee

I enjoy my wee walk to my current lodgings from the Hammersmith Underground station.

and when people in shops say "Hiyyaa" to me in that lovely accent and i
come to buy organic cotton reusable shopping totes from them,
which i later reconstruct to rid them of their 'label bashing' ways
and turn them into something somewhat vague, stupid and relatively non-sensical.
see:

So, lady-janes, lucky-joes, hobbly-hoys.
My short stint in London is nearing to an end,
buuuttt I will be in the country for a wee while
so if i ever really feel like being a tourist (as i don't feel
i really did much touristy stuff due to lack of real interest)
then i can easily oblige myself, with a hop and a skip,
and a short 3 hour train trip down from my soon to be home;
Newcastle, where i will learn the 'Geordie' ways
and drink 'Newky Brown.'

toodles.
